Powell's Comeback Is Just the Start, Says U21s Coach

UNITED Under-21s coach Warren Joyce is pleased with Nick Powell's progress but cautioned the forward has 'a way to go' before he returns to full fitness.

Powell, who spent nine months on the sidelines with a hamstring injury, made his comeback in the U21s' Monday night 2-0 defeat at Norwich, where he played for 55 minutes.

United have three more U21 fixtures this calendar year, which could provide 21-yearold Powell with the platform to earn a loan move in the January transfer window.

Joyce, though, is easing the former Crewe Alex youngster back to fitness.

"He played 45 minutes last week [in a training match], and then 55 minutes on top of quite a hard week," Joyce told the club website.

"It's a case of managing the minutes with him, just to try to get him through really and back to near full fitness. …
