Is it time to revisit President Barack Obama's authorization to use military force request?

It has been a very violent month. The Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for costly terror attacks that have killed well over 400 innocent people from France, Russia and Lebanon. In addition, it has assured the world that this is only the beginning.

At the same time, the 2016 U.S. presidential race is starting to heat up. It is very interesting to see how the Republicans blame President Obama for the problems in the Middle East while the Democrats tend to blame President George W. Bush.

On Feb. 11, 2015, President Obama sent a request for authorization to use military force against the Islamic State group to Congress. As indicated in the president's letter to Congress, this draft request would not authorize long-term, large-scale ground combat operations, but rather provide the flexibility to conduct ground combat operations in other, more limited circumstances. …
