FORT LEE -- A landscaping company will complete the final phase of the Lewis F. Cole Middle School Addition and Alterations Project: development of a courtyard connecting the original school building with a recently completed wing.

The Board of Education awarded a $349,000 contract to Pequannock- based J.C. Landscape Construction & Management Co. Inc., which specializes in parks and recreation construction and renovations, on Monday after the disqualification of a cheaper vendor because of insufficient paperwork.

The company will lay down pavers to create concrete walkways from the original front door of the school to the back door of the library and another side door, creating a circular patio in the middle of the courtyard and another patio from behind the library, according to schools Superintendent Kenneth Rota. …
