How Can America Defeat Isis When We Are Not Unified?

How can we as a nation expect to defeat what is perceived to be a global terroristic threat such as the Islamic State group if we cannot figure out how to become a unified front in our own country and with our own people?

The layers of racism in this country run deep, and one would think that at this stage of our country's evolution we would have a clear definition of what an American is, but we haven't and we don't.

In my neighborhood, thankfully I can look around and see people of different colors and different cultures and yet we all act and behave toward each other with respect and as Americans, no more or less.

Until we are able to achieve that kind of recognition and acceptance everywhere, we will never defeat racism in this country and we can never have a chance at defeating the Islamic State group. …
