A MAN needed surgery to fix broken bones in his face after an 'unprovoked and cowardly' attack by two teenagers in Wigan.

The 28-year-old victim needed surgery to fit a metal plate to his cheek bone following the assault on Dorning Street, on Monday, November 2. The victim was walking on his way home from work when he saw a group of youths coming towards him.

He crossed the road to avoid them, and after they had passed by him on the other side of the road, two of the group broke off from the others and doubled back to attack the victim.

He was punched to the side of the head, causing him to fall to the ground, before being kicked as he lay helpless.

The two men then ran off along King Street West.

The victim suffered multiple facial fractures and extensive bruising. …
