Article excerpt

* Oakland Raiders (4-5) at Detroit Lions (2-7): 1 p.m. ... This is the third of five and first of back-to-back games that, as far as the Raiders' internal clocks are concerned, will start at 10 a.m. So far, they are 1-1. The Lions are coming off an improbable road win in Green Bay.

Prediction: Lions, 28-25

* Indianapolis Colts (4-5) at Atlanta Falcons (6-3): 1 p.m. ... What has happened to the Falcons, who have lost two in a row and three of the past four? That, though, is not nearly as mystifying as what has happened to the Colts, who will be without Andrew Luck for awhile.

Prediction: Falcons, 24-16

* New York Jets (5-4) at Houston Texans (4-5): 1 p.m. ... One team is in position for a division title, the other for a wild-card spot. But it's not what you think. The Texans are tied for the lead in the AFC South, thanks to a defense that hasn't allowed a touchdown in 10 quarters.

Prediction: Texans, 20-16

* Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-5) at Philadelphia Eagles (4-5): 1 p.m. ... The Buccaneers are the latest team to pile another loss (seven in a row) on the Cowboys. They will not have as much luck on the road against the Eagles, even without Sam Bradford.

Prediction: Eagles, 18-15

* Denver Broncos (7-2) at Chicago Bears (4-5): 1 p.m. ... Bears coach John Fox faces his former team, but not his former QB. Peyton Manning is out with injuries for the Broncos, who have lost two in a row. The Bears, meantime, have won two in a row and averaged 28.2 points in the past four.

Prediction: Bears, 23-20

* St. Louis Rams (4-5) at Baltimore Ravens (2-7): 1 p.m. ... If it wasn't for Josh Scobee, the Ravens would have the worst record in the league. But, unlike the Steelers, who are 3-0 vs. the NFC West, the Ravens have yet to beat a team from that division (0-2).

Prediction: Ravens, 20-19

* Dallas Cowboys (2-7) at Miami Dolphins (4-5): 1 p.m. ... The Cowboys have the longest losing streak in the league (seven in a row). The Dolphins ended their two-game losing streak with a victory in Philadelphia and are back home after three consecutive road games. …
