Clifton Cops Say Recovered Goods Worth Thousands

Clifton police solved a Thanksgiving night burglary within six hours and recovered all of the stolen goods after tracking pilfered credit cards to Fairfield.

A family on East Seventh Street came home about 11 p.m. on Thanksgiving to find their house ransacked, Clifton Detective Sgt. Robert Bracken said. Several thousand dollars worth of computer equipment, electronics, jewelry and personal documents had been taken.

Patrolmen Owen Curry and Michael Spano and Sgts. Mohammad Droubi and Darren Brodie began canvassing the neighborhood and investigating the crime. A witness described a car that police later found on Lily Street in Paterson.

Meanwhile, the suspects went on a Black Friday shopping spree in Morris, Bergen, Passaic and Essex counties, Bracken said, hitting stores such as Target and Walmart and spending several thousand dollars with the stolen credit cards. …
