Canadian Dentist Is Killed in Bicycle Crash | Semi-Retired Dental Surgeon, 68, Was Vacationing in Heritage Harbour

MANATEE COUNTY

EAST MANATEE -- A dentist vacationing here from Canada died Sunday morning after a van hit him during his daily bicycle ride in Heritage Harbour.

Ronald Landry, 68, was riding east in the bike path on Port Harbour Parkway approaching Cape Harbour Loop, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

A 2003 Honda Odyssey van, driven by Mark Budzinski, 53, attempted to make a right turn onto Cape Harbor Loop, where he has owned a condominium since 2007, and collided with the left side of Landry's bicycle just after 7:30 a.m.

Landry, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to Blake

Medical Center, where he died an hour later.

Budzinski faces charges of failing to use due care toward a pedestrian/cyclist. …
