All this 67-year-old woman needs for Christmas is a new set of teeth.

She has had her upper dental plate on her dentures for 30 years and, over time, it has become weak. The woman is worried that if she bites down on anything too solid or too firm, her dentures will break. Broken upper dentures would leave her entirely toothless, as the woman already has lost her lower dental plate.

This has made eating difficult for the woman, who also suffers from gastroesophageal reflux disease, known as GERD, and acid reflux disease.

The ability to chew food is extremely important to the digestion process. Not only does it allow more enzymes to get to the food and help aid digestion, but swallowing air while not chewing food can lead to acid reflux.

Because of the woman's difficulties in chewing, she can't get the proper nutrients she needs from foods and is struggling to maintain her health. …
