Hurricane's Christmas Blessings Program Seeks Sponsors for Needy Kids ; Clothes, Shoes and Toys Sought for the Underprivileged

To help the less fortunate in the community during the holidays, the City of Hurricane has started a program called Christmas Blessings, and it's seeking sponsors to help make it a success. "This is a program that we decided to do this year; we typically helped with the Bags of Blessings program in the past, said Vanessa Ervin, Hurricane's marketing and development manager.

The City of Hurricane has received applications from the families of more than 100 children in the community who are in need of clothing, shoes and toys for Christmas.

"The City of Hurricane wanted to be sure that all ground was covered when it comes to helping children and families this year for Christmas. This program allows kids and families in need to sign up and receive items of need this Christmas, Ervin said.

Christmas Blessings is geared toward families with children between the ages of 6 months to 16 years of age "that don't have the means to purchase Christmas gifts and items of need for their children, she said. …
