Shawnee County OKs Postponement of S.W. 55th Paving Project

Shawnee County won't require a developer to extend a stretch of S.W. 55th Street until a project to construct Timber Ridge subdivision near S.W. 53th and Wanamaker Road reaches its final phase.

Shawnee County Commissioners Kevin Cook, Shelly Buhler and Bob Archer voted unanimously Thursday morning to enter into a two-page contract with Chuck Dultmeier, owner of Dultmeier Homes Co.

The agreement allows Dultmeier to forgo paving and improvement of S.W. 55th west to Wanamaker until only 10 undeveloped lots remain in ongoing project to develop the Timber Ridge Subdivision.

The county won't grant building permits for the final 10 lots until Dultmeier agrees to begin construction of the extension of S.W. 55th, the contract says.

Commissioners approved it during a meeting that lasted 10 minutes. …
