aHOMELESS man who found a winter coat in Manchester city centre with a note telling him 'it's yours now' has praised the mysterious benefactor behind the kind-hearted move.

Rough sleeper Ryan Mcphee was walking with a friend in Piccadilly Gardens when they saw a heavy woollen coat hung up near the Queen Victoria statue. While taking the coat to police at GMP's pod on the gardens, Ryan discovered a note inside saying it had been purposefully left out for someone in need.

It says: "To whoever finds this jacket. I bought this online and when it came it was too heavy for me. I decided to leave it here and I am glad you found it. It's yours now - my gift to you. Enjoy."

Ryan, who was responsible for setting up The Ark homeless shelter on Oxford Road, said he was taken aback by the gesture. He said: "I was with a friend and we saw that the coat was hung up on the gardens - it has clearly been specifically placed there for someone to find.

"It was quite a heavy coat for winter clearly designed to keep you warm. …
