ICE Hockey side Manchester Phoenix have been forced to set up a supporters trust in order to gain funding to complete the season and try to return back to playing in Manchester next year.

The club were forced to leave their previous ice rink in Altrincham at the start of the summer, meaning they have had to play their home matches in Deeside during the current campaign.

It has meant fans, sponsors and investors have all found it difficult to support a team based in North Wales, having a huge financial implication on the club.

That has put Phoenix in major trouble, and owner Neil Morris is hoping they can gain backing to try and get back on track.

"We know that we need to get back to Manchester next season and the demand is high from our fans and sponsors alike," he said.

"The re-location this season has hit us hard and I'm not hiding that fact, but the new arena can still happen and it will be great for the Phoenix and the Manchester economy. …
