DFLer Rob Ecklund Has Fundraising and Endorsement Edge in Tuesday's 3A Special Election

Northern Minnesota voters in House District 3A will vote Tuesday in a special election to fill the seat vacated by the death of DFL state Rep. David Dill.

DFL candidate Rob Ecklund, a Koochiching County commissioner, has a big edge in fundraising and endorsements, according to Sally Jo Sorensen in Bluestem Prairie.

Independent candidate Kelsey Johnson, a lobbyist, has raised a fair amount of money, while Republican Roger Skraba lags behind, said Sorensen.

Sorensen said Ecklund had raised "$51,372.87 as of November 24, 2015. The campaign had spent all but the $9,169.37 cash on hand. Most of Ecklund's new money came for local county party units, the state subsidy, and PAC contributions, with no large individual contributions having been made since the day of the primary."

Johnson, she said, has been active, raising "$16,570 and stowing $4,897 and change in the bank. …
