Shawnee County Health Agency to Restrict Tuberculosis Skin-Testing Hours

The Shawnee County Health Agency will restrict its hours for tuberculosis skin testing starting next week.

People who need a skin test this week can get one during normal immunization clinic hours, which are 8 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 4 p.m. Monday and Friday; 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday; and 8 to 11 a.m. and 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday. Next week, tests only will be available Monday because the clinic is relocating from 1615 S.W. 8th to 2115 S.W. 10th.

Tests only will be available Monday and Tuesday during the week of Dec. 28.

People have to return 48 to 72 hours after the test to get the results, because the reader is looking at how much swelling there is at an injection site, which is an indication that the person has the bacteria causing tuberculosis in his or her system. …
