Metro Look to Channel Lioness Success to Burnage

BURNAGE Metro FC have created a female section to their club.

The ladies football team will be playing in the Greater Manchester Women's Football League in the coming season.

The club, based at Didsbury Sports Ground, continues to work closely in partnership with the Football Foundation and Manchester County FA to support a key aspect of the club's continued development and increased participation in sport.

The aim is to engage with local colleges and high schools to offer a pathway for girls to develop their football skills and offer them the opportunity to play competitively at grassroots level.

The club, who have experience of offering similar pathways for boys into male open-age football, are keen to capitalise on England's success at this year's Women's World Cup in Canada after the Lionesses earned a historic bronze medal. …
