Although the title casts some doubts, Christmas spirit abounds in the Helen Hocker Theater youth production of "Junie B. in Jingle Bells, Batman Smells!" which opens a seven-show run Friday at the Gage Park venue. The play about Junie B. and her first-grade classmates is based on the children's books by Barbara Park. While "It's a Wonderful Life" is the Frank Capra movie more often viewed this time of year, Capra's "Mr. Deeds Goes to Town" will get a free screening at 2 p.m. Friday in Marvin Auditorium at the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library, 1515 S.W. 10th, as this month's installment of its Classic Film Series. …
