The long-stalled redevelopment of the Strip District's landmark produce terminal is back on track.

That is good news for the city's most unusual, historic structure - a 1,533-foot-long, one-story warehouse that served as a hub for fruit and vegetable wholesalers for generations. It's also good news for Pittsburgh - the Strip District is a magnet for shoppers seeking fresh food and flowers, along with unique crafts, an incomparable selection of sports-related clothing and memorabilia and unusual dining options.

That eclectic combination is the reason residents visit regularly and always include the Strip among the places to take out-of-town visitors. It also explains why it is so important for city officials to get this right.
