Rancher Faces Lawsuit, Criminal Charges over Alleged Livestock Embezzlement

OKLAHOMA CITY - An Oklahoma City livestock auction has sued a man who's accused of trying to embezzle several hundred head of cattle.

Superior Livestock Auction asked for monetary and punitive awards against Stillwater rancher James Robb Taylor, who is also facing felony charges for allegedly bidding on and receiving 322 heifers but claiming he wasn't the one who bought them when the bill came.

A heifer is a young female cow that hasn't borne offspring.

Court records show the cows were worth $452,400. The lawsuit, filed this month in Oklahoma County District Court, notes that less than a week after receiving the cows, Taylor called the auction house to dispute the bill. Despite this assertion, an investigator with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation learned that the original call ordering the livestock was made from a phone that Taylor had used to order in the past. …
