TEENAGE United striker Marcus Rashford is 'ready for a step up', according to the club's academy coach Paul McGuinness.

Rashford, 18, was named on the first-team bench at Watford and Leicester last month and scored his first Under-21 goal in the 6-1 thrashing of Leicester on Monday.

The Mancunian is receiving some special supervision from Colin Little, an Under-18 coach at United who plundered 200 goals for Hyde United, Crewe Alexandra and Altrincham, but it is another striker Rashford has been told to model his game on.

"Marcus has done very well and we're getting him to be more focused on the goals now," said McGuinness . "He's improved a lot and is ready for a step up as well. I think he can play in all the teams now - the Under-21s, Under-19s and Under-18s and so on. But we've done a lot of work with him. Particularly, Colin Little, who assists me, has done a lot of work with him. …
