Minneapolis Regional Labor Federation Names President, the First Woman to Hold the Job

Chelsie Glaubitz Gabiou is the new president of the Minneapolis Regional Labor Federation, AFL-CIO, and the organization notes that she's the first woman to head the group.

She's also 30, younger than previous leaders.

She was elected to a four-year term by delegates from the federation's more than 170 affiliated unions representing 75,000 west metro workers.

The federation notes that her election "reflects a growing nationwide commitment by AFL-CIO unions and federations to advance women and younger labor activists into leadership positions."

She succeeds William McCarthy, who is now president of the Minnesota AFL-CIO.

Glaubitz Gabiou joined the Minneapolis Regional Labor Federation in 2012, working as political director, then as campaigns manager. …
