Man Gets Life for Murder | St. Petersburg Man Found Guilty in Killing That Occurred a Year Ago

SARASOTA COUNTY -- Shakoy Gale will spend the rest of his life in prison for his role in the December 2014 death of Jonathan Jeffery.

Gale, 21, of St. Petersburg, was on trial last week for first- degree murder and home invasion robbery with a firearm.

The jury on Friday returned guilty verdicts on both charges.

Gale was sentenced to life in prison by Circuit Judge Charles Roberts for the murder charge. He will serve a concurrent 40-year sentence for the robbery charge.

Jeffery, 25, was killed early on Dec. 14, 2014, when four masked intruders broke into his home in the Summerside condominium complex.

The men tied up Jeffery and his wife, then rifled through the condominium. The intruders took an Xbox, cellphones and a backpack containing drugs and cash. …
