VENICE

VENICE -- With the conclusion of last week's 2016 Venice Comprehensive Plan neighborhood workshops, more than 1,000 people have offered input -- either at the meetings or via an online form.

Still, to make sure every voice can be heard, the Venice Planning Commission agreed Tuesday to add a final catch-all meeting on either the second or third week in January.

Development Services Director Jeff Shrum told the commission the extra meeting could be scheduled without any additional expense.

About 490 people attended the comprehensive plan workshops, Shrum said. The largest turnout was the first meeting for Northeast Venice, where 320 people signed in. The next largest was the island of Venice, where 87 people signed in.

In addition to that, another 442 people have offered input via an online survey. …
