Thompson Makes Mark on Debut in the Ring

JORDAN Thompson got his professional career off with a bang this week after picking up a first-round knockout victory.

The 22-year-old stopped experienced Paul Morris after just 113 seconds of their bout at the Village Hotel in Ashton.

M.E.N. Sport first spoke with Thompson in 2007 when he was a 15- year-old amateur, and he is excited for the next step in his career.

"I was very happy with how my fight went as it was perfect from start to finish," he said.

"It would have been nice to have had a few more rounds to gain experience but a win is a win and not many people stop Morris.

"He usually knows how to look after himself and a lot of people I know said he is very durable but I caught him a great shot and he couldn't recover."

Thompson was glad to finally make his debut, after revealing it has been a frustrating few months waiting to get his opportunity into the ring. …
