Survivors Recall How Terror Rained Down from the Night Sky

THESE images show survivors of Manchester's Christmas blitz - three days of bombing which left more than 650 people dead and 50,000 homes damaged.

Photographed to help commemorate the 75 anniversary of the cataclysmic event, these veterans have described the devastation which was rained down on the city by the German Luftwaffe during the bombing in a startling new exhibition.

The horrific event saw the city continuously bombed from December 22 to 24.

And visitors to the Imperial War Museum North in Salford will be able to learn more about what took place at the time during free daily tours at 3.30pm throughout December.

Among those pictured at MediaCity UK's museum to help celebrate the launch of the new exhibition and tours include Susan Jones - who was shopping in Ancoats when the air raids started and the bombs hit the city centre. …
