Seniors Will Face This Plight Again If Leaders Don't Act on Insurance

In response to "Gift of Continuity: The Pa. Justices Rule Fairly for Medicare Patients" (Dec. 4 editorial): We should celebrate seniors winning continued in-network access to care, but while our Supreme Court's ruling is a victory, it offers only temporary reassurance for 180,000 seniors whose health care access may come back into question when 2019 rolls around.

Furthermore, this "gift" was simply an affirmation of rights and not a grant of unexpected (or unearned) access.

Pennsylvania seniors, like me, are lifelong residents who have paid into the Medicare system for our entire working lives, even while supporting the tax-exempt monoliths that dominate the health care landscape in this area. Our health care is too precious to be left to the millionaire hospital system administrators, and we deserve better than living in constant fear that our coverage will be cut. …
