Washburn Rural High School student John Katz will perform the role of James in the Kansas Thespians' world premiere production of a two-act version of "Roald Dahl's James and the Giant Peach," a musical by Tony-nominated songwriters Justin Paul and Benj Pasek and librettist Timothy Allen McDonald, at 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at Blue Valley Southwest High School, 17600 Quivira Road, Overland Park. Award-winning San Francisco jazz vocalist Lisa Engelken, who grew up on a farm in Nemaha County, returns home to perform Saturday night at Moods, a new art gallery and venue space at 816 N.
