Paper Deliverer Charged with Theft in Wyckoff

WYCKOFF -- A 21-year-old Paterson man who works for an independent company that delivers The Record and other newspapers was arrested Thursday morning on theft charges, police said.

Brian Torres-Malaga is not an employee of North Jersey Media Group, said Robert Konig, vice president of operations and circulation. The company has outsourced newspaper delivery to Publishers Circulation Fulfillment, which could not provide information about Torres-Malaga's employment on Thursday.

The investigation into Torres-Malaga began Sunday when a resident of Bridle Path reported that three packages had been stolen from her front porch, Chief Benjamin Fox said in a statement.

The case led Detective Sgt. Joseph Soto and Lt. David Murphy to surveillance videos, and they discovered that Torres-Malaga works with his mother to deliver newspapers early in the morning. …
