GOOD news for beerlovers - Ashton-under-Lyne bottle shop Browton's is now open as a bar.

Based behind the town's market hall, in Fletcher Street, the business has proved hugely popular since opening in December 2012.

And now customers can enjoy the range of 100 beers to drink inside the cosy 20-seater space or take away after owner Simon Browton was granted an on-licence for the premises.

"Most of my customers are regulars and they've been really excited about the prospect of being able to sample indoors," he said.

"It's been massively popular. At first I sold beer, wine and a bit of food but the beer was that popular I got rid of everything else to concentrate that - especially with all the microbreweries opening up around Greater Manchester."

On the shelves, customers will find everything from TicketyBrew, brewed just a few miles away in Stalybridge, and Manchester's Marble to German, Belgian and American imports. …
