'Downward Dog' Pilot Completes Local Filming

Now, it's a "Dog"-gone December.

Cast and crew in Pittsburgh recently wrapped the filming of "Downward Dog," an ABC half-hour comedy pilot starring Allison Tolman and a mixed-breed pup, Ned.

The shoot began Dec. 7 in Regent Square, ventured to Arsenal Park in Lawrenceville and as recently as Sunday filmed all day and past sundown at the offices of Burke & amp; Michael, on Beech Avenue in the North Side's Allegheny West neighborhood. According to the production schedule, work finished Tuesday.

Hollywood magic being, in reality, slow, methodical and repetitive, that first morning on Lancaster Avenue was consumed by a scene in which Ms. Tolman stood on the porch of a red brick house and chatted with actor Lucas Neff.

Trained rescue dog Ned (series name "Martin") was prompted by his trainer, who waved a toy shaped like a red lobster. …
