Panthers' Olsen Reaches 1,000 Again

EAST RUTHERFORD - Former Wayne Hills star and Panthers Pro Bowl tight end Greg Olsen reached the 1,000-yard mark for the second consecutive season with a strong performance in Sunday's victory over the Giants.

He became the fifth active tight end in the NFL with multiple 1,000-yard seasons, joining Jason Witten of the Cowboys, Jimmy Graham of the Seahawks, the Chargers' Antonio Gates and the Patriots' Rob Gronkowski.

Olsen caught six passes for 79 yards, including a 37-yard touchdown with 2:14 left in the second quarter.

"[Playing back home in New Jersey] was fun," Olsen said. "I had a lot of people in the stands that I knew. I've been in this stadium a few times now. Coming back home, you know only growing up 20-30 minutes down the road, it was a nice homecoming, especially when you win."
