Police Name Woman, 28, in Standoff ; Shawn Nichole Muller Arrested; Gun Reportedly Fired in Back Yard

A Riley County police report released early Tuesday identified a 28-year-old woman as having been arrested Monday evening at a residence north of Manhattan after a standoff that lasted more than eight hours.

The woman, Shawn Nichole Muller, was arrested at 6:37 p.m. Monday at a home at 3303 Shady Valley Drive, according to the report. She was booked into the Riley County Jail in Manhattan in connection with aggravated assault and use of a deadly weapon. Her bond was set at $20,000.

Riley County police said they spent several hours Monday trying to get Muller, who had barricaded herself inside the residence, to give herself up.

Authorities said the woman was thought to have fired gunshots Monday morning in her backyard.

The standoff ended when Muller left her home voluntarily and was taken into custody with no significant injury, authorities said. …
