MARBLE'S Northern Quarter micropub The Beerhouse on Thomas Street has reopened after a refurbishment - and the firm has appointed a new head brewer with an international flavour to lead more craft ale invention.

The cosy bar - described as a "quietly controversial drinking establishment where patrons sit with friends and friends they haven't met yet" - now has a fully refurbished first floor, which will allow the new kitchen to start serving food later this month.

The ground floor reopened last Friday with the usual mix of cask and craft ales, including their own beers brewed behind sister pub The Marble Arch on Rochdale Road. The Beer House also stocks 60 bottles of imported beers and has four rotating keg lines.

Marble's Stuart Ball told City Life that the company has brought in James Kemp as head brewer - and he couldn't be further from their Manchester roots. …
