Shoppers Box Clever to Bag a Real Bargain ; Hundreds Queue from Midnight for Boxing Day Sales as Top Stores Slash Their Prices

HUNDREDS of bargain hunters queued from midnight outside shops across Manchester on Boxing Day for the sales.

More than 500 people were lined up outside Selfridges and Next at the intu Trafford Centre before 8am, while more than 300 were outside the Exchange Square Selfridges store from 3am.

The first item purchased was a Saint Laurent black clutch bag reduced to Pounds 619 from Pounds 885.

There were also mega deals on make-up, perfume and clothing with many of the shelves empty within hours of opening.

The Next sale began at 6am, with barriers placed outside to control the hordes of people queuing. First in the queue at Exchange Square was Liana Skuke, 27, from Cheetham Hill, who started queuing at midnight.

Liana said: "I finished work at 8pm and there was no point going to bed so I'm shattered. But it was worth it because I'm the first."

One shopper, Ayub Moosa, from Blackburn, said his family saved over Pounds 1,000.

He said: "The main reason people come from all over Manchester to come to the Next sale is for the savings you make - 50 per cent off. …
