HAPLESS STOCKPORT COUNTY fell to a third home defeat in four as they lost 2-1 to Harrogate Town on Boxing Day.

Everton loanee Delial Brewster cancelled out Jerry Yates' opener on his County debut but substitute Jordan Thewlis won it on 74 minutes - after Stockport's Jonny Margetts had missed a penalty.

The Hatters' poor form in the National League North looked to be continuing just three minutes in as Yates somehow found space to hook the ball past keeper Andreas Arestidou - with the Harrogate forward lying on the ground after his initial effort was blocked. But just 10 minutes later, Brewster latched onto Margetts' flick-on to coolly slot past Peter Crook.

Danny Ellis headed against the County crossbar from a corner and an eventful first half was capped when Margetts was shoved over in the box.

But the Tranmere loanee, who dispatched two penalties in the recent 4-0 win at Corby, could only strike his tame effort low to Crook's left, with the keeper claiming the rebound. …
