ELIAQUIM Mangala came through his big test against Leicester's dangerous duo - and Bacary Sagna believes he showed some of the hallmarks of greatness.

Sagna claimed at the weekend that his countryman would become a top defender, and revealed how he has been staying behind after training to work on aspects of defence with the 24-year-old.

And that work seemed to pay off as Mangala, along with defensive partner Nicolas Otamendi, were key men in the goalless draw at the King Power Stadium.

"I am really happy for him because I thought he did amazingly," said Sagna.

"He showed some composure, was very calm on the ball and very decisive defensively, and that's what I like to see.

"He will try to improve even more, I try to talk to him a lot as I have been in this league a long time and he is very young. …
