FERGUSON > Man accused of assaulting officer amid Ferguson protests * Khairon D. Dunlap, 20, of the 1100 block of Esquire Drive in Bellefontaine Neighbors, has been charged with assaulting a St. Louis County officer during protests in Ferguson to mark the one- year anniversary of Michael Brown's death.

Dunlap was charged Dec. 22 with second-degree assault on a law enforcement officer, a felony. Charges say he struggled with officers when police tried to arrest him during street protests Aug. 10 at West Florissant and Ferguson avenues.

While struggling with Dunlap, St. Louis County Officer Christopher Douglas felt a sharp pain in one of his shoulders, charges say. The injury required surgery, a sling and several weeks of physical therapy.

Dunlap was jailed with bail set at $25,000. There was no attorney listed for Dunlap in online court records. …
