Dodgers, Kazmir agree to three-year deal

Lefthander Scott Kazmir has agreed to a three-year contract for $48 million with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The three-time All-Star was among the top names left on the free-agent market after revitalizing his career over the past three seasons with Cleveland, Oakland and Houston. He went 7-11 and ranked fourth in the AL with a 3.10 ERA last season for the Athletics and the Astros.

Miami hires former Mizzou assistant * New Miami football coach Mark Richt announced four staff additions Wednesday, including former Missouri assistant Craig Kuligowski, who will join the Hurricanes as defensive line coach. Kuligowski was Gary Pinkel's D- line coach at Mizzou from 2001-15 and produced 22 first- and second- team all-conference players, two consensus All-Americans and SEC defensive players of the year, Michael Sam and Shane Ray, and 12 NFL draft picks, including four first-rounders in Ziggy Hood, Aldon Smith, Sheldon Richardson and Ray.

New Missouri coach Barry Odom hired veteran former Southern California assistant Chris Wilson to coach the defensive line this month. Two other former Mizzou assistants under Pinkel have landed on other staffs after not being retained by Odom: Offensive line coach A.J. Ricker will have the same role at Illinois while receivers coach Pat Washington will coach tight ends at South Carolina. (Dave Matter)

U.S. routs Switzerland in world junior hockey * Auston Matthews had two goals and two assists to help the United States rout Switzerland 10-1 on Wednesday in the world junior hockey championship in Helsinki. Matthew Tkachuk, son of former Blues star Keith Tkachuk, added two goals and an assist, and Christian Dvorak, Zach Werenski and Colin White each had a goal and two assists for the United States (2-1-0).
