Alabama Men's Basketball Hosts Last Non-Conference Game of Season

The SEC portion of the year is approaching but the University of Alabama men's basketball team will close out the non-conference portion of its schedule at home today against Norfolk State.

"They are a dangerous team, especially from the three-point line," Alabama head coach Avery Johnson said Friday. "They do a great job of creating contact and getting to the foul line."

The Spartans (5-9), members of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Confererence, have a road win over Texas-El Paso on their ledger. In their lone game against SEC competition, Norfolk State lost by 15 points at No. 22 South Carolina.

Guard Jeff Cook leads the NSU offense with a 17.5 point per game average, including 19.5 ppg in the last four games.

Alabama (8-3) clearly suffered through a holiday hangover in its last outing, a 67-59 overtime win against Jacksonville State, which outrebounded the taller Crimson Tide in the game. …
