JAMES Poole scored a hat-trick as SALFORD CITY started 2016 in fine style.

The Ammies romped to a 7-0 home win against Barwell in the Evo- Stik Premier to go level with secondplaced Nantwich. Danny Webber opened the scoring with a 13th-minute free-kick, with Poole scoring his first goal three minutes later from a Jordan Hulme lay-off.

Salford were thankful to keeper Jay Lynch for pulling off two fine saves to deny Anthony Carney.

But the Ammies secured a 3-0 half-time lead when a 40-yard free- kick was struck fiercely by Steve Howson and Scott Burton hammered home the rebound.

Gareth Seddon - making his first start since returning from injury - was denied by a block early in the second half, but Poole scored after a great run by Hulme in the 56th minute.

Hulme got in on the act with a fantastic solo effort on 76 minutes before Poole completed his hat-trick and Joe Mwasile struck at the death. …
