Regarding "Health Care Repeal Vote to Open Year in Congress" (Jan. 3):

The U.S. Senate and House of Representatives are taking another run at the Affordable Care Act. Chief among those who are expected to vote for the evisceration of the ACA and eventually its demise is one of Pennsylvania's U.S. senators, Pat Toomey.

Sen. Toomey has already voted to deny coverage to the uninsured, to veterans and their families, to require covering pre-existing conditions, as well as ending coverage for children 26 and younger on their parents' health insurance under provisions of the ACA.

The average cost for coverage under the ACA for 80 percent of those who have signed up through the Marketplace, with tax credits, is $226 per month while 51 percent of Pennsylvanians who signed up received coverage for $100 per month or less after tax credits

Families spend on average almost $9,000 a year on health care.

Some of these dollars go to hospitals, community clinics and doctors to cover the cost of providing care to the uninsured. …
