FIRST ST. LOUIS BISHOP ARRIVES

Bishop Louis William DuBourg arrived as St. Louis' first bishop, establishing the city as headquarters for the Diocese of Louisiana.

LIBRARY WORK CONTINUES

The St. Louis County Library will temporarily close four branches this month for renovations. Patrons will be directed to nearby branches during construction. The closures are:

* Oak Bend closes after Saturday.

* Natural Bridge closes after Jan. 16.

* Prairie Commons closes after Jan. 23.

* Cliff Cave closes after Jan. 30.

Several new features will be introduced at the renovated branches, including family restrooms, private study rooms, dedicated programming areas for kids and collaborative works areas. The renovated branches will also have their own caf areas with vending machines and tables. In addition, the children's area at each branch will be expanded and equipped with more interactive learning stations. Renovated locations will also receive new furniture and carpeting, new public computers and comfortable seating. …
