MLS REVEALS OPENING-DAY SCHEDULE: Major League Soccer's 2016 season will begin with the New York Red Bulls hosting Toronto on March 6.
Games set for later that day include Salt Lake at Orlando, New York City at Chicago, Philadelphia at Dallas, New England at Houston, Colorado at San Jose, defending champion Columbus at Portland, Montreal at Vancouver, Kansas City at Seattle and D.C. at Los Angeles.
Sporting KC's home opener will be March 12 against Vancouver. The rest of the MLS slate will be announced Jan. 7.
CARDINALS GET LEAKE FOR $80 MILLION: Free agent pitcher Mike Leake and the St. Louis Cardinals agreed to an $80 million, five- year contract.
General manager John Mozeliak announced the deal at a news conference Tuesday. …
