IT really is possible to imagine that Manchester will ever open a venue again that is more spectacular than our former Wesleyan Chapel, the Albert Hall.

For the second year running, you voted the Peter Street space the CityLife Awards Best Live Music Venue, its historic charm and unique acoustics scoring it an extraordinary schedule of bands just as strong as your levels of support.

Long left empty - even during its days as a Brannigan's Irish pub - and owned by investment and finance company Scottish Widows, the Albert Hall housed some of the most special shows in the city in 2015, including emotional homecoming dates from the likes of Johnny Marr and Elbow's Guy Garvey.

Who wouldn't be wowed by its stained glass windows and wooden balcony? …
