Family May Reassemble Treehouse in Back Yard Officials Said Structure Violated Zoning Laws

There were plenty of tears and disappointment last week when 14- year-old Elise Truchan was forced to dismantle the treehouse she researched, designed and built in a large birch tree in her family's front yard after Leet officials ruled that the structure was a zoning violation.

The Leetsdale Garden Club expressed an interest in possibly using the treehouse as a play structure in a neighborhood park, but the family has decided to keep it and move it to their backyard.

Elise, a freshman at Quaker Valley High School, and her parents, Jonathan and Vicki Truchan, had until Dec. 31 to remove the treehouse or face fines from Leet officials, who ruled that the treehouse was an eeeeeeeeeeeunpermitted use in a front yard.
