Lights will twinkle and blink in sync with holiday music during the Pavilion Light Show, which opens Tuesday through Jan. 6 at Pittsburgh Technical Institute, 111 McKee Road, North Fayette.

The free show, which was designed, produced and built by students and faculty, transforms the school's 2,500-square-foot pavilion into a three-dimensional show with more than 10,000 lights and more than 20 holiday songs broadcast on an FM frequency.

About 20 Smart Building Technology and Electronics Engineering Technology students volunteered for the project. Andrew Miller and Matthew Shafer worked as project leaders under faculty supervision.

Lab instructor Jim Mueller says the light show is a microcosm of a perfect project that allows students to work with wireless Ethernet communications systems, AC power systems, computers and light show software. …
