HERSHEY, PA -- Donnie Jones didn't let the added pressure of being a returning champion affect him at the PIAA wrestling championship last weekend.

Jones, a junior from Greensburg Salem, won his second consecutive Class AAA title with a 3-2 victory over Whitehall's Jay Morrison in the 140-pound title match.

"There is a little added pressure, but the experience of being here the last two years makes up for it," said Jones. "It's just another tournament to me."

The title capped a perfect 45-0 season for Jones.

"I came into the weekend knowing that if I wrestled 100 percent to my ability that nobody can beat me," said Jones, who improved his career record to 119-5.

Andrew Haile placed fifth at 189 pounds after advancing to the semifinals. He lost, 7-5, to Honesdale's Josh Arnone, 7-5, in the semifinals. Arnone went on to finish second.

McKillop, a senior who has accepted a football scholarship to the University of Pittsburgh, dropped a 6-4 decision to Northampton's Jon Oplinger, the defending champion. Oplinger scored the winning takedown with 12 seconds left.

"It hurts to get that far and have to settle for second-best," said Kiski Area coach Chuck Tursky. "I'm very proud of Scott. He had a great season and a great career for us. …
