Pupils at the Hampton campus of Winchester Thurston School can expect to get more space.

Hampton council Feb. 25 approved a revised site plan for expansion at the north campus on Middle Road.

The plan calls for the construction of a multipurpose campus center that will include art and music classrooms; a multipurpose room for dance, physical education, lunch and school performances; a conference room; a dressing room; and a catering kitchen. The project would add more than 5,600 square feet.

Also included in the plans is work to enhance the library, create a computer/media center and renovate the art-science room into a science room.

The project is expected to cost about $1 million, but no timetable has been set for ground breaking or completion and no architect has been hired.

The campus, which serves pupils in kindergarten through fifth grade, is made up of two buildings: a main building for kindergarten through fourth grade and an old farmhouse that houses fifth- graders. …
