Dad Sues over Ski Lift Fall

MAHWAH -- A Paramus man has sued the management of Campgaw Mountain Ski Area, claiming that his young daughter fell from a ski lift and suffered serious and permanent injuries.

The suit, filed Dec. 31 in state Superior Court in Hackensack, also names Bergen County and Mahwah and seeks a jury trial, compensatory damages and legal fees for the January 2014 incident.

Leonardo Reos filed the suit on behalf of himself and his daughter, 6 at the time. It claims "careless and reckless" operation of the ski lift created a "dangerous condition" that led to Reos' daughter being hospitalized, receiving medication and treatment by physicians and undergoing surgery.

The ski area is located in Mahwah, and Bergen County owns the land.

The lawsuit claims Campgaw failed to adequately hire and train its employees and, as a result, the girl "has suffered serious and permanent personal injuries and will continue to suffer these injuries for the remainder of her life. …
