New Swinton Skipper Looks Forward to a 'Tough' Year

SWINTON Lions prop Mike Morrison has been named as the club's captain for the 2016 Championship season.

A key figure in the Lions 2014 second-tier campaign, the 25-year- old made 28 appearances for Swinton last year, but missed out on the side's play-off final victory through injury.

"It's a great honour to be named as captain of this great club, especially in such an important year as this," said Morrison, who will lead Swinton in their 150th anniversary year.

"Not only from the point of view of our promotion, but also in view of the 150 years of history."

Acknowledging the coming season will be 'tough' for the Lions, Morrison added: "The preparation has been as complete and as hard as at any full-time club and we're ready to get stuck in." Head coach John Duffy said: "I'm chuffed to bits to have Mike lead us onto the field back into the Championship this season. …
